If an employee leaves a company, in good standing, should he get paid his vacation time?

i worked for a company for 16 years and gave a 2 week notice. I left before i took my 2 week vacation and a few people have told me that i should get paid for those two weeks, which i havent been. Am i owed the pay for those two weeks?|||there are a few states that regard vacation as wages and must be paid, the rest of the country leaves it up to the employer.

google your state plus vacation pay to get your answer|||Yes, it depends on the state but i would fight anyway for it as those are earned and you gave 2 weeks notice. If you do not get paid let all your old co-workers know to call in sick for two weeks and don't give notice if they decide to leave.|||That is going to depend on state law and/or your former employer's policies.|||vacation time, paid days off, etc are considered a gift and do not have to be paid.
