Can you get lay off while you on a paid vacation?

My mother was lay off while she was on vacation...I wonder can a company really do that?|||Yes you can. If you happen to be on a vacation when your company decides your position is no longer needed, there is no law against them laying you off.|||Yes. They can do whatever they want. It's called "At will". You have no security as an employee. Would it matter if she was at work as opposed to not at work when they laid her off?


This is why you need to build something for yourself. Try network marketing, or your own, other, home-based business. Have your day job, and build something on the side. That's the only security you'll have--to build something with residual income.|||It's possible something happened prior to vacation or the company was planning to cut people already.
