Am I entitled to get paid for my vacation day?

My last day at work is this Friday. I have one more day left for vacation day.... I believe I should get paid for this, correct? It is my earned vacation time. We have no HR, it is a small family owned company, the only person I can ask is my supervisor which isnt too happy that im leaving.|||these are the facts in the US, there are some states that regard vacation pay as wages and must be paid upon separation, the rest of the country leaves it up to the employer, so if they usually pay then you should get it. google your state+vacation pay|||Companies are not required by law to pay PTO or vacation out when a person leaves the company.

However, it is common practice to do so based upon how long an employee worked for the company.

The only way you will know what your company's policy is is to ask your supervisor. If the company has not developed a specific policy, they may agree to pay out the day to you. Your best bet to make this happen is to avoid making demands by making it a request.

Good luck!|||Well, if you are using your vacation time and Friday was part of that vacation time then yes.

If you are to work on that day and just dont wanna going, its a no call/no show (if you dont call in)

If friday was not part of your planned vacation, then that day is not being covered, but you can still call in and see if you can use your last days vacation. If they say no, and since your leaving anyways, it may not really hurt you if you dont get it|||Most work places give you a designated amount of vacation days, if you don't use them, they're ommited the following year.

Basically if you have a vaccation day you should use it for a vaccation, otherwise its not your employers fault if you never took the initiative and he/she doesn't have to compensate you for that day.

and not all work places have payed vacation days.|||You have earned your vacation pay just as much as the rest of your paycheck. But keep in mind many employers have "use it or lose it" policy with respect to vacation, so you should make sure that you use the vacation day before your last official day if it is stipulated that you have to "use it".|||vacation time is a benefit and is not required by law to be paid

just like any other benefit, like health ins, vacation time, sick time, holiday pay, profit sharing, 401k, retirement, pensions, bonuses.........they are not required by law, but entice employees to stay with a company
